James Mills, Wharton Photograph, Raleigh, NC



The image was taken on 119 Fayetteville St. in Raleigh, NC between the years of 1887 and 1910. Based on the age, style of clothes, and dates of the image, I believe this could be James Mills (1853-1910).

Wharton & Tyree (Cyrus P. Wharton & Manly W. Tyree)
1909-10 - Raleigh (119 1/2 Fayetteville St.) By 1911-12, Tyree was the sole owner. He died between 1917 and 1919, and the studio was sold to a photographer named Coble.

  1. I have an undated photo given to my mother by my Grand Father, Harry Henry Ricks, a designer & photographer, I'm told.

    He's included in the photo along w/Mr. Wharton & Mr. Tyree.

    I would be truly appreciative if anyone could check the archives & provide me w/any additional photos of my Grand Father.

    Mr. Ricks married a Mamie Weaver, & lived on N. Tarboro in Raleigh.
